The barn measures 90 feet wide by 100 feet in length and is 24 feet in height. The roof pitch is 1:12. This grand agri-storage building was built with economy and efficiency in mind. Clear span steel buildings are ideal for agricultural storage as they are rodent and insect resistant, insusceptible to rot, mold and mildew, fire retardant and non-combustible all of which makes them much more economical to insure. Concrete Foundation

The concrete foundation on the Prairie Fire Farms clear span metal building was laid with radiant in-floor heating.  The water based system provides heating from the floor up for consistent, efficient warmth. Warm water systems run hot water through pipes to create heat.  Traditional radiators need to be heated to a higher temperature in order to heat a space effectively.  Floor heating only needs to run at a temperature of 84 degrees Fahrenheit  or less, depending on the floor finish, in order to warm the space.  Radiant in-floor heat will keep your energy bills lower.ls far lower.

Having the radiant heat installed in the concrete foundation and flooring provides a comfortable space to store and maintain large farm equipment.

To accommodate their operations and equipment four doors were installed measuring 18 x 14, 14 x 14 and two 3 x 7. The pre-engineered steel building is the largest building in the town of Forteau.

Read about the erection process of a steel storage building (steel warehousing) by Global Steel Canada and Paulo Ventures for Newfoundland Power

Global Steel Buildings Owner Jim Busch partnered with Paulo Ventures to deliver two pre-engineered steel storage buildings to meet the stringent specifications and regulations required by the Province of Newfoundland Labrador for Newfoundland Power.

This project presented logistical challenges due to location which were overcome by the superior customer service team at Global Steel Buildings Canada. Tender called for the delivery of two pre-engineered steel storage buildings designed to withstand the coastal climate of Labrador.

Building one is located in L'Anse au Loup, the largest of a group of seven towns known locally as the Labrador Straits. This pre-engineered steel structure measures 20 ft by 33 ft by 11 ft and was designed for use as a storage building. The finished building features energy saving R20 roof and wall insulation which will lower ongoing operational costs for Newfoundland Power.

Building two is located in Cartwight, a community located on the southern coast of Labrador. The pre-engineered steel building measures 11 ft by 33 ft by 11ft and operates as a storage facility for Newfoundland Power. The storage building features one main door and R20 roof and wall insulation which allows for longevity and performance in the sub-arctic climate.

Paulo Ventures team first laid the foundation which is key to ensuring the completed pre-engineered steel storage building is erected with ease.

Next the building was framed and fastened to the foundation.  Global Steel Buildings provided Paulo Ventures' team with pre-welded, pre-cut and pre-punched I beams and rafters to facilitate installation. Secondary framing consisted of purlins, girts and framed openings.

The building was then insulated and the wall panels were installed. The warranty offered by Global Steel Buildings on the panels and fasteners is second to none.  Finally the trim and accessories including vents, doors and other options were installed.

The final storage buildings are durable and energy efficient. An attractive addition to both small  communities.

Community Centre Pre Engineered Steel Building

Community Centre for Whitesand First Nation

The Whitesand First Nation is an Ojibwa Community located in Armstrong, ON, 246 kilometers north east of the city of Thunder Bay.  When it was time to build a new Community Centre, Chief Allan Gustafson and Council had a vision for a facility which would meet the needs of the entire community.

Rengnal Construction partnered with Global Steel Buildings to deliver a new Multi-plex community centre pre-engineered steel building. Global's quality steel pre-engineered steel buildings are built for the Canadian climate.  Global Steel Buildings engineered a structure that was functional, aesthetically pleasing and energy efficient.

Community Centre Project Design

This project involved the erection of two buildings attached to create an accessible, functional multi purpose facility to serve the community. Building A measures 53 feet wide by 86 feet long with a height at the eaves of 22 feet and is a single slope rigid frame construction.  The front side wall of building A attaches to building B which measures 82 feet wide by 69 feet long with a height of 12 feet at the eaves.  Building B is a double slope rigid frame construction.

Both buildings are clear span design, fabricated of galvalume roof sheeting and 24 gauge colored wall sheeting and feature multiple main doors and thermal windows.

The Whitesands Community Centre is a 10,000 square foot building which was can withstand huge snow loads, an important factor for all construction in Northern Ontario.  Designed for fire prevention, the Whitesands Community Centre has a fire wall construction and Roxul insulation which substantially reduces operating and insurance expenses.

Looking for a solution which was cost-effective, pre-engineered steel was the natural choice. Pre-engineered steel buildings can be built 30% to 50% faster than buildings using more traditional materials and at a substantially lower cost.  The clear span design allowed for the multi-purpose use of the building which houses a gym and recreational facility, kitchen, health and community programs,  career training centre, educational and meeting facilities.

Why are Global Steel Buildings superior to wood pole barns and wood pole buildings?

Roof

Global Pre-Engineered Steel Buildings kits consist of maintenance-free AZ55 Galvalume®. AZ55 which consists of 55% aluminum, 44% zinc and 1% silicon.
This also allows the steel mill to give 25 year rust through warranty on perforation. If a hole develops in a panel, the steel mill will replace it.

Wood Pole Barns

Wood pole barns typically offer only a 15 year guarantee on the roof sheeting. In most cases wood pole barn buildings only use sheeting with a zinc coating that eventually will oxidize, fade then rust.

Fasteners

Global Steel Buildings

Our capped fasteners are stainless steel. They won’t rust and includes a lifetime warranty. It is very important that the fasteners be compatible with the AZ55 or AZ50 because the steel mill will not warranty the wood pole barn roof if they’re incompatible.

Wood Pole Barns

Wood Pole Barn buildings typically use fasteners with an alloy head that will tarnish turning dark gray or black. The roof of the wood pole barn loses its luster and beauty.

Roof Panels

Our roof panels are made of steel consisting of an 80 yield, 26 gauge AZ55 Galvalume.
Our steel buildings have a 1½” depth in our corrugation in the sheeting. Our extra depth of corrugation adds strength to the roof.
The sheeting on the roof of our steel buildings has a depth of 1½” in the corrugation. The depth adds strength to the roof.
Our panel overlap (called a reversed “L”) prevents water from backing up through the overlap into the Global Steel Building.

Wood Pole Barns

Wood pole barn buildings typically only use 29 gauge steel on the roof, which is lighter than 26 gauge steel, and only a 5/8″ depth of corrugation that does not provide the extra strength the Global Steel building has.

Some of pole barn kit manufacturing competitors use an ‘R’ panel roof, which means the sheeting only overlaps one third of the way into the corrugation. This doesn’t prevent leakage as well as the reverse ‘L’ design that Global Steel uses because the water will back up into the pole building.

Paint

Global Steel Buildings

The paint used on our Steel buildings has a 40 year warranty against chipping, cracking, peeling and blistering. It is a baked-on polyester paint so that the Global Steel Building maintains its colour and beauty over time.

Wood Pole Barns

Wood pole building manufacturer’s typically only warranty the roof for 10, 15 or 20 years.

Our Buildings purlins and girts are superior 16 gauge zinc-galvanized.

Wood Pole Barns

Wood pole building manufacturers typically use wood purlins and girts which will bow or bend causing screws to loosen, sheets to flap and leaks to occur within the pole barn.

Our steel building consists of rigid frame, plate steel and H beam construction. Since no wood is used in our building – no warping will occur, there’s no risk of fire or termites AND insurance premiums will be less expensive than for wood pole barn kits. Our Building has a 40 year warranty against defects in materials and workmanship on all structural components.

Our building’s truss does not need a cord going across which means there is complete unobstructed space within. Birds cannot perch and defecate on the equipment and machinery inside the barn, which will save you tremendous costs on maintenance.

Wood Pole Barns

Wood pole buildings manufactured with wooden frames will eventually warp over time. They can also become a fire hazard and become a target for termites and other insects – raising the costs of insurance. Wood Pole Buildings are more expensive to insure.

Wood pole building manufacturers typically require a cord spanning across the truss width causing tremendous loss of space. This creates a perch for birds – potentially damaging your machinery and equipment.
